Artist Statement

I let my imagination illustrate.

My artwork is currently about real and imagined landscapes. I intend for the use of color and forms to soothe and capture the viewer. I pull inspiration from the world around me. Each artwork is also an index of my thoughts and emotions: an embrace of watercolor’s unique flow and my intuitive reaction to those properties. Interactions of purples, yellows, blues, oranges, and greens spread out in decisive horizontal strokes and pops of saturated color. My goal is to create an abstract visual playground.

I hope for my art to take the viewer out of reality for a moment and allow them a place to wonder and visually explore and wonder. These paintings are an expression of myself and where I find myself internally and externally. I am  very interested in animals, the iridescence, and shapes within nature.

In some of my paintings, I have abstracted moments and places where I felt free, known, or just excited about life. The abstraction of those scenes and colors are arranged on the surface as they are in my mind, as a swirl of thoughts and moments. My work is an extraction of the excitement, recognition, and illustration of my soul. It is my hope that the viewer will discover their own sense of being known when looking at my work. It is a deep wonderful feeling, beyond words, and special for each individual but experienced universally. My artwork is a quest to capture that experience on a 2D surface, spark wonder, and inspire an otherworldly imagination.
